4th of July Tags for Goodie Bags

Pin It Now! Just a quick share tonight.  I'm getting ready for a birthday / Independence Day party at my house tomorrow, and needed some patriotic tags for goodie bags for the kids!
I stuffed them full of candy and firecrackers (the cheesy kind!). Oh, and Minion glasses. This is going to be fun!
Have a blessed holiday weekend!

Oh, Happy Day! Cascading Birthday Card

Pin It Now! Today my first born is 14!  Where does the time go?  I know it's sappy, but wow!  He's officially taller than me, and very nearly smarter, too.

I made him a dude card.  He loves the mechanical cards that I make - cards with fancy folds, flips, etc.  More than just folded in half! This one is a cascade card, and wasn't at all hard to make after watching Dawn's video here.
Embellished with Typeset DSP, Starburst Sayings, and a little gold trim.  We'll see if it's manly enough!

I love this card fold, it's interesting, and shows off the tons of DSP that some of us are hoarding!
The back...

The "HAPPY" is dotted with Crystal Effects and sprinkled with glitter.  It reminds me of a lit up Vegas sign!
It's a bit oversized (standard A6), so a handmade envelope was in order.
Check out the snack & soda "cake" I made for him last night!  A great way to use up old ribbons and such.  I love making basket cakes :)  You can find a how-to here.
Have a blessed and creative day!  ~ Erika

OH HAPPY DAY! Adoption Congratulations

Pin It Now! For the first time in a good, long while, a color challenge hasn't been a stress to me!  Here's a card I made for a friend's recent adoption finalization. They are a super sweet family and I am SO happy for them!

The colors from our latest challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Super juicy and summery, right?

I created a large shaker window and used Fringe Scissors to make this great confetti!  I was able to snip up little squares of all the challenge colors, plus Silver Glimmer Paper!  The little one is 2-1/2, and he's going to love it.  He'll probably rip it up to get to the confetti, but that's okay :D
Here's an inside look at the making of the shaker.  I cut several Shaker Frames into quarters and ran them around the outer edge of my shaker area.  Then, make the confetti by criss crossing  the fringe scissors to make squares. Placed a square of Window Sheet over it (acutally I attached it to the opening of the Lost Lagoon layer for the card front with Sticky Strip).  Added a double layer of Dimensionals, since the Shaker Frames are 2 Dimensionals high.
Inside, I made him a little name tag.  (His first name was left off til after the photos were taken)
And there you go!  Won't you stop by Hand Stamped Sentiments and play along this week?  I'd love to see how you use these fabulous colors!

Minecraft Birthday Card In A Box - 13th Birthday!

Pin It Now! Want to see something cool I made for my 13 y.o. son's best friend's 13th birthday?   A Minecraft card-in-a-box!
My son LOVED it!  I simply found images online that I liked, resized them to work together, and hand cut each one.  The bricks were a challenge, I had to layer them row by row!  Added a "13" to Steve's shirt!
Added some birthday stamps from Starburst Sayings.
Folded flat to fit in a standard envelope...
And the backside for the birthday message.  The sentiment here is long retired.
This was a stretch in my style, but so fun and worth the smiles it got.   Thankfully, I saved the digi files for the Minecraft portion of this card, so I can make more if I get the urge!
Thanks for stopping by, have a blessed and creative day!

Starburst Sayings Birthday Card & Glassine Gift Card Bag CCMC296

Pin It Now! Hey crafty friend, thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm using a color combo from Create With Connie & Mary: Pacific Point, Summer Starfruit, and Smoky Slate.  I knew right away I wanted to make a  birthday gift set.  A glassine bag gift card holder and matching card...
I cut the center strip to allow an opening for the starburst circles in the middle for a cool dimensional effect. The twine runs around the card and through the circle. I love these wooden embellishments, they are SO fun!
Oh, how I love the hardwood stamp!  Love, love, love.
Above is a little tip on making the wooden arrows longer...just snap it in half!  I glued each end behind the "celebrate" circle and no one is the wiser!  As you can see, I just kept layering pieces until I was satisfied with the look. It got a thumbs up from my 13yo son, so I'm happy!
I had plenty of scraps leftover, so I made one more card.  I actually like this one best.  Clean and simple. I'll probably use this one for a graduation card.
Inside the card.
Thanks for stopping by!  Check out the rest of the samples at the CCMC site for inspiration on this fun color combo!

World Map Masculine Card

Pin It Now! Here's a card I made for a beginners' class last week.  It features World Map, a great background stamp.
A couple of strips in Night of Navy and Real Red with Tasteful Trim die, and a Chevron ribbon banner strip.
The Starburst Sayings and Framelits bundle was used here. I love the sentiments and the fun zigzag edges in this set!  Great for so many occasions!
