Seize the Cake! Happy Birthday, LeAnne!

Merry Mondays Challenge is celebrating the birthday of a very sweet and talented cardmaker, LeAnne Pugliese.  Here's my birthday card for you, LeAnne!
A quick and easy card to make, great for beginning card makers.  We let the patterned paper do most of the work, and use Stampin' Write markers to color the layers of the cake, making it look fabulously fancy!  The mini banner at the bottom is simply punched.
Here, you can see the little row of pearls to gussy it up.
So, I hope you had a wonderful birthday!  It is so nice to visit with you in Blogland, you are very personable, and I'm sure everyone that receives comments from you knows that you took time to really look and appreciate their work.  You make everyone feel special, because YOU are truly special!  (((hugs)))

Another Great Year - Birthday Greetings!

I have had a fascination with this stamp set since I first set eyes on it!  Then it sat...and sat.  I wasn't sure what to do with it.  I love the scripty font, the festive banners, and the vintage feel it has.  This week's Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge gave me the jump start I needed, with the cute retro mixer in aqua & silver.
I went with the silver and aqua theme, with a touch of purple from the other photos.
I saw a cute sponge dauber polka dot card by Teneale Williams, and thought this was just the technique to use with this festive birthday stamp! Sponge daubers dabbed in Coastal Cabana, Certainly Celery, and Wisteria Wonder. The birthday sentiment is heat embossed with silver, colored with Coastal Cabana, and a few sequins are added.
I used this trendy tilted layered look, and I like the way it adds interest to the dotty panel, with plenty of patterned paper peeking through.
Inside, a greeting and a cupcake!
I'll definitely be turning out a few of these.  Super easy and really darned cute!

Hop on over to Hand Stamped Sentiments and check out the DT samples - and please join in the fun!

Check out Teneale's card here, with the dauber technique!

Have a blessed and creative day!

Thank You, Sweet Friend - HSS190

It's time for a fun sketch over at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I tried my best this time to stick strictly to the sketch, and not to use the Big Shot.  Looking over my latest cards, I realize that I use it for everything.  Which isn't bad at all, but I wanted to keep things a little simpler.  -ish!
I have a wonderful, wonderful friend and her husband that I have met through our love of card making, and today I made a thank you for her husband.  My boys call him Mr. Joe, and I can't begin to tell you how much they adore him.  He's so kind, and always willing to entertain them when us ladies are hid away making cards.
I've stamped the soda pop onto a piece of white and layered the banners over the base.  "Sweet Friend" is part of a longer sentiment, so I used a marker to stamp the words I needed.  A wrap with baker's twine, punched heart, clothespin, and finally a few scattered sequins.
Head on over to HSS to see what everyone's up to!

Postage Due Thank You Note - CCMCSU14-03

Hey crafty friend!  I'm dropping by with a thank you note I made with the latest sketch from Create With Connie & Mary.  Super cute sketch!
I hope they're having fun with their first LIVE event!  Wish I were there!!!
This was honestly the easiest card I've made in a while!  I'm getting ready to head to my hometown to see my mom & dad for a few days, but I got the itch to make ONE more card, since I'll be without craft supplies!   Just a little criss cross with the papers and then trimmed them to fit, a tag that I made a pile of for customers, a black ribbon to anchor it, and some sequins.  Ta-da!
I cannot do anything without sequins lately.  Just sayin'.
I love Postage Due for it's vintage collage look!  And the "thank you" is new from Something to Say.

Thanks for swinging by!

Christmas In July - Heart of Christmas

The challenge at Merry Mondays this week is to make a green and white card, and this one turned out so different from the way I had it pictured.  Does this happen to you?  I was going to go the CAS route with a white base and maybe some washi tape.  Haha!

I decided to go more green and less white, with a combo of Old Olive & Confetti White, which is a much creamier white.
I used a similar layout for my anniversary card last week, and I like the way it looks. The point in the front allows the patterned paper to show whether opened or shut.
I embossed the cardfront with Lacy Brocade, and created a Hardwood panel with Old Olive ink and some sponging. Atop that, the sentiment Heart of Christmas is heat embossed white on Olive with a little more sponging.  A little banner of burlap and three tiny bells strung on linen thread fancy it up some.  Finally, rhinestones anchor the sentiment panel - I colored them with my Blendabilities.

Inside...
Go check out all the beautiful cards at Merry Monday!  BTW, I LOVE this inspiration photo.  Just gorgeous!

Anniversary Card - From My Heart [ SUO100 ]

Today is my 14th wedding anniversary!  Like the card suggests, I have enjoyed the passing of time with my dear husband.  He is my rock, and was placed in my life at just the right moment, 16 years ago, and we were married on the same day 2 years later.

Here's the card I made for him at 11:00 last night while he was still out working.
I found a card on pg. 130 of the SU catalog that I loved the layout of, so I used the basic sketch of it to create my card.  I tried to go very MANLY, but as you can see, I just had to add a few sequins to make it stand out!  I left the little fringes from the sequin trim to rough up the look a little.

The point at the card front is made by marking the center with a ruler and then each side at 1-1/4", then using the trimmer to cut away the excess.  The chevron embossing is spritzed with Early Espresso and the Spritz Tool, and "enjoying" is gold embossed on Mossy Meadow.  The bottom strip is from the new Vintage Typeset DSP.   I'll be using that on so many things!

I tied off the bottom with Baked Brown Sugar thick twine.

And here we are, saying I Do, on a breezy July day on the Miles River. *sigh*
